Handmade, hand painted porcelain figurine depicting Napoleon Bonaparte with Pug on chair. Based on decorative figurine from the mid 19th century.
Story behind the decorative piece:
On Napoleon's honeymoon his new wife Josephine had a Pug named Fortune, but Napoleon was angry because he did not want the dog to sleep in their bed. Josephine told Napoleon in a stern voice, "If the Pug does not sleep in our bed, neither do I!" The military leader calmed himself down, and agreed to let Fortune sleep in bed with them.
Napoleon is wearing military uniform, his infamous grey coat is hanging over the chair.
Furtune the pug, is placed on the middle of the chair, with a classic decoration of a silk ribbon with gilded bells.
