A New Front, A New Shop—New Signs

With our new address came a new storefront.

Our building, originally constructed in the 1890s, once housed a family-owned chocolate factory. In 2006, a major renovation transformed both the exterior and interior, adding elegant limestone detailing to the ground floor. To complement this, we replaced the existing metal doors and windows with a beautiful wooden frame, enhancing the building’s character.

The soft, Parisian feel of the limestone inspired us to reimagine the façade for our new shop.

When we first opened in 2021, we collaborated with the talented artist and professional sign painter Jakob Enghave, founder of CopenhagenSigns. Naturally, for our new home, we turned to Jakob once again, and he has created yet another stunning transformation—this time, designed to harmonize with our new space.

The signage is painted from the inside, allowing the glass to enhance the reflection. The delicate shell motifs and lettering are all hand-painted in gold against a deep black background, giving the shopfront a timeless elegance.

Additional refined details include exquisitely engraved brass signs, crafted by Mark Larsen of Sydkystens Skilte, adding yet another layer of craftsmanship to our exterior.

With these thoughtful elements, we have designed a storefront that blends seamlessly with the building’s history, the rhythm of the street, and the refined aesthetic that defines BON TON goods.
